BRADENTON FL – Florida Highway Patrol has reported that a man is in critcal condition have being struck by a vehicle Friday night.
The crash began as a 27-year-old man from Bradenton Florida was riding a bicycle south of 50th Avenue Plaza West along US 41.
As the biclyst was riding, a 53-year-old man from Bradenton was driving a Sport Utility Vehicle northbound approaching the intersection with 50th Avenue Plaza West.
At 9:17 PM the cyclist entered the roadway of US 41 traveling westbound attempting to cross the road, and traveled directly into the path of the oncoming SUV.
The front of the SUV crashed into the left side of the bicyclist throwing them form thier bicycle onto the pavement, and critically injuring him.
First responders transported the bicyclist to an area hospital for medical treatment.
The driver of the SUV was not injured in the collision, and the Florida Highway Patrol has stated that the crash remains under investigation.
FHP announced that unfotunatley, On 10/31/22, the bicyclist was pronounced deceased at Blake Hospital. The crash remains under investigation.
